LET’S CATCH THAT SUNRISE…
Zwaneveldsgat, August, 2015
Exhausted after a long day of work, I get home at three in the morning and I'm ready to go to bed. Then I get a crazy idea... Maybe I could…
I quickly check some weather apps on my phone. The weather seems good, so there’s no excuse to go to bed. The week before I was not really satisfied with the pictures I took. I know I can do it better. I feel that my exhaustion is slowly turning into passion.
I also felt this the first time I was in New York City. After more than 24 hours of traveling from the Netherlands. I was craving for a hotel bed, But the moment I stepped out of the yellow cab and Manhattan was at my feet, I was no longer tired. I only wanted one thing, pull that camera out of my bag and take photos. It's an inexplicable drive of passion that makes you forget everything else.
My bed is looking very tempting at three in the morning, but my passion wins from the exhaustion. Half-asleep I grab my camera gear and jump into my car. I know where I want to go. Last week I found a nice spot there. It’s still dark when I arrive. I park my car somewhere on the grass and start walking with my bag and tripod on my back. Behind me I can already see the sky getting brighter. After ten minutes I arrive at the spot, install my camera and not much later the light and color spectacle starts. Nature awakens, what a fantastic moment to experience. By seven o'clock it's over and I notice just how tired I am, but it was more than worth it. I drive home and then finally there’s my bed.
